After attending the University of Northern Colorado School of Nursing, Shawna spent 14+ years practicing in the Emergency Room and Pediatrics.  During her years in Pediatrics, Shawna gained compassion for those struggling with parenting issues and familial conflicts.  With a natural affinity for the toddler and adolescent years, parental coaching became a natural fit.    She took several years away from the field to raise her family the Love & Logic Way.  Being a Type A personality and a recovering perfectionist, starting up The Commonsensical Way seemed a very natural next step. Shawna has been known to say that because of her love and natural aptitude for what she does, she doesn’t “work” a single day in her life.  The highlight of her day is making every person she works with feel heard, hopeful, at ease, and understood.

The Commonsensical Way is a "no drama", no nonsense approach to improving relationships and life's challenges. Commonsensical Parenting was born from over 35 years in Pediatrics and being witness to the predominant frustration, conflict and discord in most parent-child relationships.

MiChelle McGarry has been a pediatric nurse since 1988 and a pediatric nurse practitioner since 1993. She loves pediatric practice and her passion is supporting families in the parenting process. She has practiced both primary and specialty pediatric care. MiChelle is very familiar with kids with special needs as well from both a health care provider and a parent perspective, having also raised a son with Type I diabetes. MiChelle has used Love and Logic principles to guide parents for more than 20 years and feels the philosophy is superb and works with all kids and families, though some may take more tweaking than others. She is always willing to do that tweaking and be available for the families she serves. MiChelle not only is a trained facilitator of Love and Logic, but with her years of pediatric experience, she has great insight in to helping families as well as learning from them. She looks forward to meeting and working with you through Love and Logic so that you are free to love being a parent and not having to do battle with your kids, over anything!
